Jakarta's GBK Softball Field Reopens After Major Renovation

The Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Softball Field in Senayan, Jakarta, has officially reopened to the public after months of renovation. The facility, which is one of the few international-standard softball fields in Indonesia, was inaugurated yesterday by the GBK management along with officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The reopening ceremony, held on Sunday morning, was attended by athletes, students, and community sports enthusiasts. According to GBK management, the renovation was carried out to modernize the field and provide better facilities for both professional athletes and the general public.

“We want to make GBK not only a national sports center but also a comfortable space for the community to enjoy sports together,” said GBK General Manager, Satria Hidayat.

The upgrades include improved turf, new dugouts, better lighting systems, and spectator seating. The renovations began in early March 2025 and were completed in late September 2025.

The GBK Softball Field is expected to host upcoming national tournaments and training sessions for softball and baseball clubs. In addition, the field will be available for schools, universities, and local communities to rent for sports activities.

This renovation was undertaken as part of GBK’s broader effort to revitalize its sports facilities ahead of future international events.
