FLOODS HIT PORIS, DISTURPING RESIDENTS ACTIVITIES
Poris, Tangerang - Heavy rains that have been pounding the Tangerang area since Monday night have caused flooding in several areas in the Poris area of Tangerang City. Water levels reaching 50 to 80 centimeters inundated community organizations and main roads, disrupting community activities.
According to residents of RT 04 RW 06, Poris Plawad Village, the floodwaters began entering their homes at 2:00 a.m. Many residents were forced to evacuate to higher ground to save their valuables.
"I woke up because the water was knee-deep inside the house. We immediately took out the children and important documents," said Yulianti, one of the affected residents.
In addition to inundating homes, the flooding also caused traffic jams on Jalan Benteng Betawi and Jalan Maulana Hasanudin, as vehicles were unable to pass through. Tangerang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) officers have been deployed to assist with evacuations and air extraction at the affected locations.
Hendra Sutisna, Head of the Tangerang City BPBD, stated that the flooding was caused by a poor drainage system and high rainfall. "We are currently carrying out emergency response and urging residents to remain vigilant, especially if rain returns soon," he said.
As of this writing, the air in several locations has begun to recede, but residents are still advised to be prepared for the possibility of further flooding.
