Trucks' Non-Compliance with Operating Hours: A Real Threat to Public Safety

Recently, there have been increasing reports from residents of large trucks operating outside the operating hours set by the local government. Yet, operating hour regulations are established for a very clear reason: to reduce congestion and ensure public safety, especially in densely populated areas.

Unfortunately, many drivers and freight companies still ignore and disregard these regulations. Residents of Poris, for example, have complained several times about large trucks passing in the early morning or late evening—dangerous times when many schoolchildren and residents are on the road.

This is not just a minor violation. It is a clear disregard for public safety. Large trucks have large blind spots and slow braking, which is extremely dangerous when forced to operate during heavy traffic. Accidents can happen at any time.

When a regulation is established, especially one concerning public safety, it is natural for everyone to comply. There is no justification for violating operating hours simply to achieve delivery targets or save time. What about the human lives that are at risk?

Local governments and police should be more assertive in enforcing these types of violations. Administrative sanctions or even vehicle confiscation can be imposed on trucks that persist in operating outside of designated hours.

The public also needs to play a role. If you see a violation, document it and report it to the authorities. Remaining silent will only make this violation seem commonplace.

Trucks operating outside of operating hours is not a trivial matter. It concerns safety, order, and a sense of justice for residents who use public roads every day in the hope of reaching their destinations safely.
